L’estudi identifica les principals tendències en l’àmbit de la robòtica. Així, l’informe destaca la integració de la intel·ligència artificial, que permet evolucionar cap a sistemes intel·ligents i autoadaptables a entorns variables; la robòtica humanoide, que amb una aparença humana són capaços de fer tasques en entorn dissenyats per humans; els robots mòbils autònoms i drons, que redefineixen sectors com l’agricultura o la mobilitat; o la robòtica aplicada a la salut, que millora l’eficiència clínica i la qualitat de vida dels pacients. Catalunya ja compta amb més de 300 empreses especialitzades en robòtica que generen un volum de negoci de prop de 1.000 milions d’euros en segments i aplicacions diverses.

Aquest estudi estableix unes bases compartides per orientar una estratègia industrial catalana en el nou cicle europeu de defensa. El 2025 consolida un canvi d’era: pressupostos expansius, urgència operativa i una voluntat explícita d’autonomia estratègica dins la UE i l’OTAN. Això crea demanda real i sostinguda de capacitats industrials i tecnològiques, amb impacte directe sobre la reindustrialització.

The Transparent Ranking of Open Access (OA) Repositories has been published annually since 2008 as part of the Webometrics Portal of Rankings. This edition evaluates the repositories based on the total number of items indexed by Google Scholar (excluding citations) during the third week of March 2026. There are 5 independent lists including all repositories, institutional repositories, portals, CRIS, data repositories and repositories from Spain.

This policy brief analyses the EU’s technological sovereignty and its position in the global R&I system in the following central technological domains: Advanced Manufacturing and Robotics, Artificial Intelligence, Micro- and Nanoelectronics, Energy Harvesting and Life Sciences. It constitutes a technology-oriented contribution to the broader debate on Open Strategic Autonomy. Based on a threefold empirical analysis of scientific activity, technological activity and trade in relevant goods, it finds, first, that the EU’s positioning differs markedly across different technological areas, and second, that challenges to technological sovereignty manifest very differently across the different domains of analysis, i.e. as scientific, technological or material dependencies. 

This EU-level report is part of the study o “Promoting STEM Education in Schools”, commissioned by the Directorate-General for Education, Youth, Sport and Culture of the European Commission. It examines EU policy initiatives and European programmes addressing STEM education over the past decade, with a focus on pre-primary, primary, secondary, and initial vocational education and training (VET). The analysis covers formal, non-formal, and informal education.

The study investigated gender homophily in research mentorship networks. Homophily refers to the tendency of same-gender pairings, such as men mentoring men and women mentoring women, to occur more frequently than would be expected if pairings were gender-neutral (a random assignment without regard to gender). The study also examined the extent to which mentees, based on their gender, contributed to the tree index of both women and men mentors relative to expectations. This index measures the bibliometric performance of a mentor’s mentees as independent researchers later in their careers. For example, if 40% of a mentor’s mentees were women but they only accounted for 30% of the mentor’s tree index, the women mentees would have contributed 25% less than expected to the tree index.

Cinquena edició del dossier Dones en les TIC, dedicada a l’anàlisi de la situació de les dones en el sector de les tecnologies de la informació i la comunicació (TIC) a Catalunya. El dossier ofereix una diagnosi actualitzada, a partir de dades oficials i fonts especialitzades, amb l’objectiu de dimensionar les desigualtats de gènere que es manifesten en el procés de digitalització. L’anàlisi recorre tot el cicle: usos i competències digitals de la població, itineraris formatius, inserció laboral, condicions de treball, recerca i desenvolupament tecnològic. Aquesta mirada integral permet identificar no només diferències de presència, sinó també patrons de segregació i desigualtats en les trajectòries professionals.

La Estrategia se articula en torno a tres grandes ejes: Reforzar las capacidades científicas y tecnológicas; Fortalecer el tejido empresarial desde la investigación hasta el mercado; Construir un ecosistema coordinado entre administraciones públicas, centros de investigación y empresas. Se centra en ámbitos estratégicos como la inteligencia artificial, la computación cuántica, la biotecnología, la robótica avanzada, los nuevos materiales, los semiconductores y las energías limpias.

This working paper examines how horizon scanning can help governments anticipate and respond to emerging and converging technologies. Drawing on 129 international exercises (2020–2025), it highlights the diversity of practices, from government units to international initiatives, and explores methodological advances, including AI-enabled analytics. The paper identifies key technologies such as advanced materials, quantum technologies and bioengineering, and their policy implications for security, resilience and sustainability. It also highlights challenges in interpreting early signals and the need for robust standards and international collaboration to ensure horizon scanning effectively informs STI policy and decision-making.

On 11 December 2025, the French National Research Agency (ANR) and Science Europe organised the conference ‘Trust in Science: Analysing the Challenges and Identifying Solutions’ in Paris. This report provides a synthesis of the keynote interventions and panel discussions, bringing together perspectives from research funding and performing organisations, policy makers, academics, media representatives and civil society. It highlights key factors shaping public trust in science and puts forward a set of recommendations, based on the discussions, to strengthen the conditions that underpin trust in science.

As AI continues to advance rapidly, the question becomes whether the systems built around it can keep up. Governance frameworks, evaluation methods, education systems, and the data infrastructure needed to track AI’s impact are struggling to match the pace of the technology itself. That gap—between what AI can do and how prepared we are to manage it—runs through every chapter of this year’s report. New in this edition, the report tracks how AI is being tested more ambitiously across reasoning, safety, and real-world task execution, and why those measurements are increasingly difficult to rely on.
