Primera edición del ranking de investigadores españoles y de investigadores extranjeros que trabajan en España o Andorra. El ranking está elaborado a partir de la combinación de datos procedentes de los perfiles públicos personales de Google Scholar (GS), ORCID y OpenAlex (OA).

Science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) are increasingly recognised as critical drivers of economic competitiveness, innovation and sustainable growth in the European Union (EU). This report aims to provide evidence-based insights to guide EU policies aimed at increasing participation in STEM. The report draws upon a wide range of international research while prioritising findings that originate from (or are relevant to) the EU context. To that end, this investigation will first seek to identify the pivotal factors that influence decisions to pursue STEM education, across individual, social and institutional levels.

As complexity rises, from climate adaptation to fast-diffusing AI, EU-policy must become more agile. This brief explains policy experimentation, maps key approaches (trials, pilots, sandboxes and quasi-experiments) and the barriers to wider EU uptake. Based on a DG RTD-Innovation Growth Lab study and EU Missions fieldwork, it identifies bottlenecks and proposes a pathway to test, learn and scale R&I instruments to close Europe’s innovation gap.

Quantum technologies are set to reshape the economy, as quantum computers unlock unprecedented computational power, quantum sensing drives advances in areas ranging from medical imaging to seismic detection, and quantum communication transforms data security. The study captures the richness and complexity of the quantum ecosystem from a variety of data sources. Its holistic approach analyses innovation, firm activity, investment trends, skills demand, and trade in relevant equipment and materials, as well as reviewing government efforts to advance quantum technologies.

Strengthening evidence use in policymaking is critical for addressing complex transnational challenges and restoring public trust in government. While the EU has established numerous Science-for-Policy organisations, the ecosystem faces significant challenges: fragmentation across institutions, limited coordination, and insufficient interaction between researchers and policymakers. Despite high citizen demand for evidence-based policy — with 68% of Europeans believing scientists should intervene in political debates — researchers report a lack of regular platforms to engage with policymakers.

The 2025 edition of ‘The EU Industrial R&D Investment Scoreboard’ monitors and analyses industrial research and development (R&D) investment trends in the context of the EU’s 3% of GDP R&D investment policy target and the related policy initiatives by the Competitiveness Compass. The 2025 Scoreboard analyses the world's top 2.000 corporate R&D investors, responsible for over 90% of R&D performed by the business sector globally, based on the financial information in the latest published audited accounts of firms. 

This paper takes stock of the ambitious national strategies and policy instruments countries are introducing to support the development and uptake of quantum technologies. It reviews the timelines, motivations, scope, goals, assessment and governance mechanisms characteristic of national quantum strategies. The paper also identifies the main objectives of policies with frequently used instruments, including institutional funding for public research, project grants for public research, grants for business R&D and innovation, public procurement and equity financing.

The ShanghaiRanking's Global Ranking of Academic Subjects (GRAS) evaluates world universities across 57 subjects in the fields of Natural Sciences, Engineering, Life Sciences, Medical Sciences, and Social Sciences. GRAS is based on nine objective indicators grouped into five categories: World-Class Faculty, World-Class Research Output, High-Quality Research, Research Impact, and International Collaboration. Each year, GRAS presents around 20,000 subject units from approximately 2,000 universities across some 100 countries and regions.
